I am one of those who will “just say no” to buffoonery.
I don’t care for the Madea and Big Momma’s house type of movies at all.
This one and its predecessor, however, don’t fall into that category. I will likely see this movie as I did get some enjoyment out of the first one. Hopefully this one will be even better.
I most likely will not see it. Although I have heard good things about the first one, I didn’t see that either. I don’t deny that he has some talent, but when Tyler Perry’s name is associated with a project it turns me off.
Well this is what Tyler Perry had to say about it: “I would love to read that [criticism] to my fan base,” Perry told 60 Minutes correspondent Byron Pitts. “All these characters of mine are bait, bait to get people talking about God, love, family, and faith.” “That pisses me off. It is so insulting.”
I find the charachters in Perry’s film relevantly honest. Some people in our community can identify with these charachters and they are moved by them. Madea can make you laugh, cry, angry but the truth is she never makes you feel like you’ve been lied to.
I’m disappointed that Spike took his opinion about Perry to the media instead of to Perry. Perhaps this older and more seasoned entertainment GIANT could have shared his insight with this younger, aggressive entertainment GIANT.
I enjoy films and productions by both brothers, and I believe that individually their works are collectively relevant and necessary.
However, this is nothing new. The cycle will continue until we reach out and give each other a hand up instead of throwing sucker punches at each others as they begin to come up!
I’ll be at the theatre to see Why Did I Get Married Too on opening weekend.
Besides this dude is putting brothers and sisters to work not just in front of the camera, but behind it too. Spike had his time and his mass following, but today is a new day and it belongs to Tyler. Perhaps the two will join forces and create a POWERFUL film together, but if not they still both serve a purpose for their audiences.

This looks good. I don’t believe this is the content Spike was on about. I’d go see it. Plus Tasha is a JERSEY GIRL!
