Someone who claims to be an alum of Tuskegee University has started a blog with some current students entitled “TuskegeeExposed“. I came across it today while on monitoring Twitter for HBCU talk.
As I looked at the site, I noticed immediately that it was a site defaming Tuskegee University and their Administration’s lack of attention to health, safety and financial issues.

So, I sent him a few messages to get a better understanding of his objective:

I want to encourage ALL Tuskegee alumni to check out his blog, read the stories and take a look at all of the photos. It might not even be a bad idea to reach out to him directly and legitimize his claims. After doing so, a plan needs to be devised to make project specific donations. It’s worth giving TU’s Office of Alumni Affairs a call and get them on board with setting up a short list of (Attainable) projects that need to be addressed. Your Alumni Dollars help and they can go to marking small items off of this list as a group of alum.
Additionally, I encourage you to spread the word of your good deeds and whatever plan is devised through your Office of Alumni Affairs. We are all in touch a lot more these days with Twitter, FaceBook, AlumniRoundup, HBCUDigest, etc… Once a direct plan is set up, I will be glad to spread the word.

It’s good to see that you engaged in dialogue with this young man and offered him an option to BETTER the circumstances. Most people tend to focus on the negative without spending the time and energy to figure out a solution. I blame the short attention spans and “I/me” selfish mentality that seems to have spread like wild fire in society. TU is NOT the only HBCU or college/university to experience issues with administration and/or housing. Again, it’s good to see that you tried to steer this young man in a positive direction. Long Live TU and all HBCU’s!!!!
